Visitation of Most Worshipful Grand Master, Bro. Robert G. Helmic, of Michigan State, USA
When Operative were approached by RWM John Hulme of St. George Lodge No. 190 regarding the prospect of hosting a visit to Aberdeen City Province (and his honorary lodge, St. George #190), by the now reigning MWGM of Michigan, I was delighted to afford St. George Lodge our hand of friendship with the use of the Hall on a regular Operative meeting date, 2nd Nov. 2004. We simply swapped halls and held a short regular meeting in the ACP Lodge Room then adjourned to assemble as an official visitation to this auspicious Masonic occasion, upstairs. Many visitors from far & wide were present including official delegates from Aberdeen City Provincial Grand Lodge lead be Bro H. Petrie RWPGM. (and PM 190)
The whole evening was a resounding success and all present had the opportunity to witness a gathering the size of which is rarely seen on a regular evening. The proceedings were conducted in an exemplary manner by RWM John Hulme and a special touch was added by the many and warm greetings, plesantries and presentations that were afforded at the close of the meeting. Brother Helmic has a special association with Aberdeen and St George in particular, as existing Lodge archives have identified both his Father and Grandfather were members of St. George Lodge dating back to 1909 with the Master’s chair from St George, at that time, placed in the east as a surprise for Brother Helmic to enjoy throughout the meeting.
A well patronised harmony was held afterwards, in the Mosaic Foyer and great cheer was to be found in all corners of the establishment.
Operative’s Candidate, Bro. David McPhee was duly raised to the high & sublime degree of a Master Mason and welcomed into the fraternity during the course of the evening and as such was congratulated, by one & all, on his eventful preferment.”
